Schema Therapy – Lane Cove | North Shore | Sydney

In August 2026 I became an ISST Advanced Certified Schema Therapist.

Frankly, this was the hardest professional goal I have worked toward. There were moments I almost stopped.

I am incredibly proud that I kept going — the same message I offer my clients: even when it feels difficult, it is possible to keep moving toward the life you want.

Why accreditation matters

You do not need special accreditation to use Schema Therapy. Many psychologists draw on it in their work.

Schema Therapy is a deeper approach. It works with long-standing patterns (schemas) and the parts of us that still carry unmet needs from earlier in life. Because the work is more complex, the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) offers certification. This involves extensive training, supervised practice with complex cases, and independent rating of recorded sessions.

I did not pursue this for a certificate on the wall. I did it because I wanted to offer Schema Therapy at a high standard to the people who trust me with their stories.

Choosing a psychologist when there are so many options

Searching “psychologist near me” or “Schema Therapy Sydney” can feel overwhelming. There are many good mental health clinicians, and qualifications, approaches, and personalities differ.

Accreditation is only one piece of information and does not guarantee perfect therapy — no qualification does. The relationship and sense of safety with your therapist matter most. But it does show that a therapist has invested significant time and effort in developing the specific skills this model requires. For therapy that asks you to go deeper, that investment matters; knowing your psychologist has completed rigorous training in that model can be reassuring.

If you’re someone who wants to get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck and build a life that feels more meaningful, I’d be happy to hear from you.
